Elkhorn Creek kayakers stranded by high waters

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) Three kayakers were rescued over the weekend after getting stranded by high water on Elkhorn Creek in Franklin County.

According to the Franklin County Fire Department, the group became stuck Saturday near the backside of the Jim Beam facility, close to the forks of the creek. Officials say the kayakers were able to get to land on their own, but couldn’t make it out of the area safely due to the conditions.

Fire crews responded and helped bring the group back to safety. No injuries were reported.
