Six rescued from Elkhorn Creek after tubing trip turns dangerous near Stillwater Campground

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Six people were rescued over the weekend after becoming stranded while tubing on Elkhorn Creek near Stillwater Campground.

Emergency crews, including Frankfort Fire and EMS, responded quickly and were able to bring everyone safely back to shore. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Officials say recent heavy rainfall caused fast-moving currents, which can make creeks and streams like Elkhorn Creek especially dangerous.

They’re reminding the public to always wear a life jacket and be prepared for rapidly changing water conditions—especially after storms.
