Flood death toll in Kentucky rises to seven

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – The death toll from the recent devastating flooding across Kentucky has climbed to seven, Governor Andy Beshear announced Thursday night.

The latest victim was from Pendleton County, adding to a growing list of flood-related deaths previously confirmed in Bullitt, Carroll, McCracken, Nelson, Trigg, and Franklin counties. Among the victims was a 9-year-old boy who died last Friday after being swept away by floodwaters while walking to his school bus stop.

Governor Beshear said the Team Kentucky Storm Relief Fund will cover funeral expenses for all those who lost their lives in the flooding.

“We’ll be reaching out with the Team Kentucky Storm Relief Fund and offer to pay for each of those funerals so that again we can grieve together, and these families aren’t worrying about this cost,” Beshear said.

Donations to the relief fund can be made through this link

The Governor also noted that state officials are submitting applications for federal Individual Assistance for flood survivors.
