Laurel County Sheriff's Office investigating deadly hit-and-run; public's help requested

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help identifying a vehicle involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash early Thursday morning.

According to a Facebook post from the sheriff’s office, the incident occurred around 4:22 a.m. on U.S. 25, approximately two miles south of London. Authorities say a moped traveling southbound was struck from behind, causing critical injuries to the rider who later died at a local hospital.

The sheriff’s office says the suspect vehicle is believed to be a Chevrolet Suburban, which likely sustained damage to its front grill emblem and headlight.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about the suspect vehicle or its driver to contact the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office at (606) 864-6600, send a private message to the office’s Facebook page, or email g.acciardo@laurelcountysheriff.gov.
