Gov. Beshear orders flags to half-staff in honor of Jimmy Carter


 




LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — Kentucky state leaders are reacting to the death of former President Jimmy Carter.


Today, Governor Andy Beshear has ordered all flags at state office buildings be lowered to half-staff until sunset on Tuesday, January 28 in honor of the former president.


“Jimmy Carter was a true American,” the governor posted on Facebook. “He lived through his faith and values each and every day, lifting up his neighbors and serving our great country through kindness and compassion.”


Meanwhile, Congressman Andy Barr posted to X following Carter’s death.


“President Jimmy Carter was a man of service, humility, and dedication to others,” Barr said. “His impact on our nation and the world will not be forgotten.”


Senator Mitch McConnell also posting a long message on Facebook.


“Elaine and I join the senate and he nation in mourning the passing of our 39th President Jimmy Carter,” Senator McConnell said. “President Carter lived a true American dream.”
