Former Letcher County sheriff indicted for murder of district judge





WHITESBURG, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Former Letcher County Sheriff Shawn “Mickey” Stines, 43, has been indicted for the murder of Letcher County District Court Judge Kevin Mullins, according to an announcement from Attorney General Russell Coleman and Commonwealth’s Attorney Jackie Steele.


The indictment, issued by a Letcher County Grand Jury on Thursday, charges Stines with Murder – Public Official. The indictment alleges that Stines shot and killed Judge Mullins, a member of the Letcher County judiciary.


Stines was arraigned on the original murder charge in September.


The arraignment on this new charge is scheduled for Monday, November 25th.
